Struggling

Bruce Davidson exhibition opening at c/o Berlin. "Subway" is a project dating back to the '80s, a collection of portraits collected by Davidson in New York. The opening was attended by John G. Morris, publisher and executive director of Magnum Photos, who emotionally drove us through his speech to the times when arriving in New York and struggling to bring the agency out.

 John G. Morris was taking part of the editors that shaped our understanding of the world. Sensitive and empathetic he touched us deeply  with his encouraging words, last friday at c/o.

     Berlín y sus infraestructuras como un encuentro que permite el habitar como una experiencia de suma de situaciones domésticas en espacios públicos, vacíos y lugares en desuso a lo largo de toda la ciudad, sujetas a mutaciones espontáneas y remodelaciones y no adheridas al discurso desde el poder de la representación tradicional de la ciudad.

     Berlín se comprende desde sus infraestructuras, desde sus vacios urbanos y tierras de nadie. Desde su división, su ausencia de centralidad, su dispersión.

    Berlín, ciudad de los tres centros, como lugar en el que el espacio residual y público pierden sus definiciones. Una excusa para hablar de lugares comunes y su construcción contemporánea. De la identidad como instrumentalización y sostenibilidad social. Flexibilidad y super-organización espacial.

- Jean Philippe Vassal, Arquitecto y Profesor de la Universidad Técnica de Berlin hasta el año 2008 al frentedel taller “Adip. Rethinking Berlin” donde se analizaron y llevaron acabo propuestas en torno a la ciudad.
- Markus Bader, Arquitecto fundador de raumlaborberlin y comisario. Su trabajo se centra en la interfaz entre la arquitectura, el arte y los procesos de transformación urbana. Forma parte del equipo preliminar IBA Berlin 2020.
- “Team eleven”, grupo formado curiosamente por la negativa a participar en un libro publicado por HansStimmann. Sus textos giran en torno a la construcción contemporánea de la ciudad.

      Nosotros explotamos nuestra propia ingenuidad profesional como una fortaleza. Hemos elegido permanecer como amateurs. Trabajando de esta forma, siete voces pueden actuar de manera dinámica e instrumentalizada, asegurándonos que la dirección editorial y conceptual del proyecto sea desigual, incómoda e impura. De acuerdo a los estándares de la industria, esto es perverso. No hay ningún estilo de la casa, ni voces singulares ni posturas políticas. No hay capitulación ni siquiera para averiguar que es lo correcto. Como Sol le Witt (artista) dijo a Eva Hesse (artista ocasionalmente deprimida): "Debes trabajar siendo estúpida,  tonta, irreflexiva, vacia". Los saltos creativos pueden surgir a través de la combustión de la ignorancia, las creencias y las corazonadas.(...) 

La parte "Profesional" dirige toda su capacidad en llegar a ser un especialista y particularista hacia la parte "Amateur", que fundamentalmente se centra en vivir en los márgenes del conocimiento, la competencia y la credibilidad. "El Profesional Amateur" ejerce como agente de control sobre su falta de disciplina y precisión. Genera conocimiento por elisión, contingencia y rugurosa suerte.
